I put myself on mute, kept it on speaker phone and continued counting meds as she went on and on.

Turns out she lived, didn't pay the 10 dollar copay and just picked up the testing supplies six days later when her insurance would pay for it again.

I strongly disagree, weird provocative contemporary art projects and kindergarten fingerpaints can indeed by art. I don't like YBA or anyone of the sort, I think they're supremely unoriginal and have been beating the same dead horse for the better part of a century now (Woah, look at this weird and/or totally unremarkable thing, doesn't this challenge your preconceived notions of what art is?).

There doesn't just "need" to be something because the implication of the absence of it makes you uncomfortable and confused, it is discomforting and confusing - this is to be expected in a dead-god world. No matter how much you insist "there must be" this does not make such a standard real, regardless of your feelings on the topic your opinions on art are objectively speaking no more valuable to anyone but yourself than the opinions of any idiot. It's good to have your own tastes and be confident in them, but it's just not true to pretend that everyone else is obligated to agree.

And here is the thing. You acknowledge the quality that unconventional art often has. Art is not based on how accurate the depiction is to things you see in real life, if that was the case art would be fucking boring and the only art worth having would be photography. Any art is a form of story-telling, and in the case of painting it is a way of communicating to the audience what the artist sees in the world and for this end merely translating the material onto canvas is not enough - it needs to be imbued with ideas and interpretations. This is something I touched on earlier with the example of futurism.

Futurism is about communicating ideas like speed, strength, energy, youth and virility with colour and shape. These are not things that can be captured with a still-life painting as they are not objects, they need to be represented in some abstract way.

And this is what makes good art (in my view). Not how well the artist can copy nature, but how well the artist can impress their imagination and ideas into the minds of the audience visually. And in this way it cannot be graded objectively, as only the spectator can truly understand how this idea has been impressed into their mind for no other man can see into another's mind. But that is the purpose of art, to allow the artist to make their mind intelligible to the audience - not to show what we already see in the real world. This is the case for painting, literature, dance, film, you name it.

This is why art is a creative endeavour. Photorealistic landscapes are simply not very creative, nature has already done all the heavy lifting for you.

If you want to redefine art to just mean the rote, mechanical realistic depiction of life and that everything else is unacceptable we may as well just have a funeral for culture. There is simply no room for vision in such a notion.

Art is all about creativity. From stone-age etchings to 21st century hentai. It has everything to do with the creative expression of the artist and nothing to do with "It must be THIS realistic to be art".

Used to go to the gym 6 times a week for 1.5 hours just like everyone else training and eating these mainstream diets and routines -> looked like skinnyfat for years

Lol, I ended up fucking her. I found out about her from that video of her with the doctor being posted on another board and started following her online presence. She was in Melbourne to speak at some fat acceptance meeting (literally like 100 obese women and a handful of men). Went there, began talking to her after her talk, asked her out to dinner the next day. Fucked her in her hotel and asked if we could keep in touch because I really liked her (gave her a fake name and the phone number I use to fuck tranny escorts).
