Hey /fit/ I'm new to this so forgive my question, but is low/no salt a meme? How relevent is salt compared to cal intake? Reason I'm asking is a cup of chicken broth will satisfy my snack craving at 5 cal and can even get me through as a meal, but my bro says that because its basically pure salt (not wrong, 880mg) its just as bad as a junck cals.
What do?

Drink water
5g per day. Youll die with zero.

Instead of the soup or more water to compensate?

Salt is important. Especially if youre active
But too much of anything is bad

>is low/no salt a meme
No, it's established science because of the multiple known negative health effects of excess dietary salt.

Only calories determine weight loss.
If you really need the salt and taste, I would recommend replacing the salt with MSG or a salt/MSG mixture where applicable. MSG tastes better than salt for the same amount of sodium

Yeah, its really just for the taste. I could drink a gallon of water and still feel ravenous, but with the soup it feels like I actually ate something. I guess its psychological but at 5 cal with no fat or carbs its relly effective for me.
I thougjt MSG was worse. Everyone I know make a big deal about it at chinese shops. A lot in the area even advertize "no msg"
