I like it, but I don't really understand its recent meme status. All of a sudden a couple years ago people just started speaking of bacon as if it were a moral goodness, and the only thing I can think of is that it became some kind of subconscious rejection of religious dietary taboo to affirm Western values. Like, "Islamist terrorism and immigration is an existential threat but our open culture forbids negative statements about minority groups, so I can only express my angst as an affirmation of a part of my own culture that those groups reject as taboo."

Or maybe people are just shallow and it's one of many inexplicable stupid fads.
