Time to get some /swim/ myths out of this board
If you can swim
25m in 25s or less that's a good time for an adult male (15s or less is near olympian lvl)
200m in 10min or less too
Now how to achieve that?

Both are fairly easy to do, after a bit of practice.
I rarely go swimming nowdays, like 2 times a month, but when I was going 2 times a week I used to do 50 laps (2.5km) in about 2 and a half hours, but really slow and with alot of breaks. It's the best cardio that you can do for weight losing as I lost 15kg in a month (from 85 to 70).
If you care about performance and fast timings, you gotta do quite a complex warmup before jumping in, at least that's how I saw performance swimmers doing it. For a casual like me, it was just jump in and start swimming.
