Why is sprinting frowned upon?

>Joggers and runners everywhere
>Decide i'll sprint to the gym instead of walking which usually takes 5 minutes

Not all "running as fast as I can" is sprinting. That would make literally all competitive running sprinting. Ran a 19 minute 5 k? "He was sprinting the whole time, the madman!"
Sprinting necessarily means you stop much sooner than normal, because you were working much harder.
