The issue is that for the first week you will get itchy and it will feel like your head is gross, but if you power through and just scrub it in the shower with hot water and no soap, it will sort itself out.

Your body naturally produces oils that help, so just give it a chance to work itself out. If it doesn't work, then go back to suffering.

Also if you have hard water in your area, you might want to get a water softener. Your local water authority will tell you the 'hardness' (basically mineral content) of you water so you can see if there is an issue there.
