I ran a sub 6 minute mile 2 years back, but after a small injury and one and a half years of on and off inactivity, I'm running 9 minutes per mile.
How do I get back to my former speed in the quickest time possible? Any specific workouts? What should I eat? How much time should this take?
Sprint quarter mile intervals with a short rest in between. Helped me get below a 5 minute mile

Sounds good, thanks! Do you happen to remember how long it took to see improvement?
Few weeks. Biggest help I had was to run with someone faster than me. They can set a pace a bit faster than you and it really helps with PRs

This. Just did my first Marathon (42.2km) but now wanting to do a 20 min 5k. I've had much success with HIIT, doing 20 seconds of full sprint, 40 seconds walk and repeating about 7-8 times. It only takes 8 mins and absolutely fucks you, but my cardio has progressed brilliantly. Down to 21:07, see you soon 20 mins
