its a 1rm max lift and hes in fuckin high school getting amped with his bros. the form is pretty horrible and im not advocating for that stuff, but actively looking down on and shitting on this just shows how you should just worry about yourself instead of caring what other people do.

ive been going to public gyms for 10 years and reading threads like this is why i sometimes get intense anxiety about some fucking asshole and his friends making fun of me because im doing something they think is stupid.

i literally watched a guy doing perfect starting strength style squats, guy was a beginner obviously and doing a pretty good job, and a bunch of other dudes and his buddies were making fun of him and snickering. talked to the dude and he was the nicest guy ever yet you have assholes who dont know fuck all about training making fun of him.

i agree there are some dumb things done at the gym but the fact you guys actually take pics of this shit or find it out to make fun of is more pathetic. every time i see this shit, someone being made fun of at the gym, i just lose a little hope for humanity. its supposed to be a place of positivity and improvement, and welcoming. if you see someone doing something supremely dumb its none of your business, if you intend to make it so, at least give them constructive friendly advice. but really you should focus on yourself. it just shows how weak you are and how big your ego is that you think making fun of people is acceptable.

same thing with steroid use,. its none of your business and they arent fucking affecting you. i could give two shits if i see a bigger guy on gear who is doing less weight than me, im not in a competition to see whose the biggest badass so why should i fuckin care?

nah It's not dangerous. Gymnasts do similar kind of exercises to prevent injury. Those are not supposed to be heavy. The idea is to prepare the body for when that shit inevitably happens during training. Of course people who only lift weights don't do skills like tumbling that requires them to have strong knees in terms of torsion. Seriously if more soccer players did Inside squats and Twisting Squats, there would be next to none ACL torn in football.

This is the same myth like people saying you shouldn't lift heavy things with an arched back. In reality you can go pretty heavy, although not as heavy as you can deadlift

you are dumb as fuck. this girl trains at supertraining with mark bell and them. if you think the lateral lunge is bad for your knees you better email eric cressey and let him know. you guys are such know it alls. just because your pathetic knees cant handle a simple body weight movement doesnt mean hers cant. when you are training martial arts of various forms there are plenty of movements where you get into somewhat compromised positions. its not like you are loading up with tons of weight. not everything in life will allow you perfect form. if you cant train semi compromised positions or refuse to you are at a severe disadvantage.

i get that using a barbell to do lateral raises or a flye looks kind of odd. it takes up a lot of space and you are doing something not alot of people do. but it is a strength movement that promotes stability because of the length of the barbell. knowledgeable trainers promote stability movements for prehab and recovery, so why the fuck shouldnt someone use a barbell for a lateral raise? it builds strength and coordination, isnt that the WHOLE FUCKING POINT of going to a gym? there isnt a rulebook that says you must do these movements.

Whenever i see people doing some meme shit like rack pulls above the fucking knee, dumb zercher lifts (except squats) ,some meme jumping etc i cringe.
However one thing in determining if what someone is doing is legit is to simply ask them about the purpose that thing.
90% of people will not answer without any thought.And you know that they are doing that to look cool, unusual or because theyve become memed.
I certainly agree there are some unusual stuff that work, especially for the back.
But if one did couple more rows instead of RackPullsABoveTheKnee, or if one did one more set of db raises instead of bb raises or if one simply did hip thrusts with weight instead of rotatingoneleggedhipthrustonbosu results would be

We literally had 5 barbells lying around, hence me betting a year's supply of chalk on barbel flyes being doable for reps.

Now I have a year's worth of black diamond's white gold chalk and have done barbell flyes for 4x8.
