I recently decided to start going for a run whenever I feel like shit about my life, and I'm getting much more consistent at it. The problem is that I fucking hate it. My whole chest burns, I get shin splints, and I cough like crazy for like, an hour afterward. I really like the accomplished feeling I get when I run (about 2 miles around my neighborhood for 30 mins), but physically it feels like I'm doing myself a real disservice.
What am I doing wrong and how can I fix it?
start off slow
i know it sounds repetitive to hear, but i've learned it's the truth. plantar faciitis can take you out weeks and you lose your gains.
run slow as fuck and build up the amount of distance by 10% every week. dont care about how fast you are and how much distance you cover. that will come later.
the coughing and chest pains sounds like ur pushing too hard and going way too fast. slow it the fuck down and try to enjoy the scenery and walk when you start to feel pain in your shins.
dont run everyday right away like i did and fuck up your feet so badly you can't even walk properly for months.

Don't run, lift instead. For cardio use a bike.
