I just can't fucking do them awkward as shit. hurts my upper quads so I can't straighten my legs, I swing like a retard even when touching the floor after a rep to stabilize and then my grip gives out after like 7 reps

go through the progression. if your gym has ab straps, start out with them. you need to get at least 10 hanging knee raises(knee to chest) before you do full hanging leg raises.

I was the same way when i started. Once I improved my pullups in a row and got proficient with normal leg up raises it became much easier to stabilize
