Why do non-lifters assume lifters think they're fighters or care about professional fighters?

I'm sensing some kind of insecurity/projection going on here from non-lifters towards lifters for some odd reason?

Connor actually tried to finish the fight that's why he gassed out by the 10th round.

I'm watching the fight again listening to the commentators praise Connor non-stop for his excellent jab, excellent footwork, very fast stance switching as he throws punches and excellent use of angles.

They seem really surprised that an MMA guy is this good at boxing.
