Does running make your spine and other bones more dense / stronger?
>>42647225
it just fucks up your joints
>>42647225
yes, I've known many dense runners

Running creates micro-fractures in your shin and thigh bones. Many professional runners are forced into early retirement because the bones in their legs literally splinter and shatter like glass.

only if you don't have the genetics for it or use bad form

well you're clearly wrong
but thanks for posting

You have no idea about biology. Stop posting on this board. Bones are not monolithical static structures in your body, they are being constantly remodelled. In adult's body around 10% of all the bone tissue is replaced each year. Running does not causes bones to shatter, every form of physcial exercise that puts stress on bones promotes remodelling that makes them stronger by increasing their density.

Yes, but you must build up running slowly or you will get injuries. Running is the best and most natural cardiovascular exercise there is. The problem is that people don't run for years and all of a sudden start running and their bodies have a hard time coping with it. So build up slowly.

Short answer - yes.
Long answer -
Different stresses(forces) on bone do send electrical signals to promote osteoclasts and osteoblasts to 'reform/restructure' bone to become stronger for the forces being applied to it. This is why you generally hear of weightlifting counteracting osteoporosis, and why you 'never break a bone in the same spot twice.'
For cardio, cycling or swimming are WAY less impact though, irregardless of who you are. Running can be hard on your knees/cartilage, especially if you are new to fitness or even a little overweight. Yes people can get fractures from running. It happens more often than you might think.
I'm not new to fitness but I cycle instead of run because I'm overweight and my right knee is a bit fucked from golfing with horrific form throughout my childhood/adolescents. And biking is really fun compared to running, imnsho.
