I remember we used to joke last year about how Rich didn't have very long but I just can't believe it actually happened.

I somewhat agree with this sentiment but would urge you to consider the fact he almost certainly dealt with depression and other mental health issues which prompted his behavior FAR before he died. Saying he never did cardio is incorrect... he did do cardio... but you're implying cardio would have helped his situation. Fact of the matter is that cardio would have done more harm than good by only placing even more strain on his heart.

To me Rich seemed like some kind of sometimes goofy dad figure of bodybuilding scene.

As someone who is interested in bodybuilding i've had a privilege of growing up with dad who was world champion level bodybuilder back in the 80's and 90's. Still in mirinworthy shape tho.

We had the usual "come here son dad wants to talk about something" real talk moments (alcohol, sex, drugs, you know the drill) but we also talked about bodybuilding and what that world is when you open that door.

We talked (and still talk) about steroids, training, food, feeling of losing, feeling small, injuries, feeling disappointed, feeling successful and winning.

That real talk was from someone who actually bought russian made cadaver-gh and methandienone among with some other gear from somewhat shady sources.

Not from someone who tells you that your first test injection will trigger Chris Benoit in you and you end up killing everyone and yourself in 10 seconds.

Rich was giving everyone that same honesty and glimpse into bodybuilding world that my dad was able to give me.

In his world (unlike 13 in a dozen other youtube fitness channels) not everything was shitting rainbows and smelling success all the time.

He didn't have to rely on selling athlete name x fart powder (tren and clen sold separately) for gullible kids as an source of income so he didn't have to be quiet about some things.

I have mixed feelings about him and his passing. Some sadness, because he was entertaining and I used some of his products, but it wasn't totally unexpected.

I view his empty house as a metaphor for his life. Big, expensive, flashy, but basically a model home on the inside. Just like his body - huge muscles, flashy tats, but emotionally void with little self worth.

As much as he might have been a nice guy, he was insecure enough to respond to Instagram beefs, slap kids, and try and fight prophet muscle. I'll never forget his epic call out of Bostin; a good watch but still a dick move in my opinion.
