Not as high as you'd think. Unless you're doing some high level rapids (which probably aren't as a beginner) you can pick up a good used one pretty cheap (few hundred) and that's all you really need as long as you have a vehicle able to haul it to the nearest body of water. Grab your self a sixer and a waterproof speaker and just hop in.

You may wanna invest in better kayak/gear if you wanna take on some good white water tho.

Also, you need better bearings. You'd get better slides if you could pick up and maintain speed more easily. Just be careful if you do get better ones because you might now be used to the speed.
A bigger board would probably be better too. You'd be able to get higher pop on your flip tricks and maybe mitigate some of that over rotation.

I use FL Studio 11, but any DAW that you can use comfortably works. As far as gitting gud, a good way to practice is to try and recreate songs you know from scratch. Not only will it help you learn your way around a DAW, it'll help you learn how tracks are structured which is arguably the most important part of making music. Go out there, torrent a DAW, watch some Youtube tutorials and godspeed

Do it. I went the other way. Started dancing as a kid, eventually started ballroom and went amateur for 2 years until practicing enough to stay competitive simultaneously with college was too much. The Arnold Classic even has a ballroom event.
I still social dance more than just ballroom. It's a lot of fun and each scene is pretty different so you can pick whatever type of retarded you prefer. Every scene is retarded in its own special way though.

Choose a style and find a scene. Salsa, Swing (Lindy Hop), West Coast Swing, or Ballroom are good starting places.
If your city is big enough, look for events that are not at an Arthur Murray or Fred Astaire studio. Some franchise studios are great, some suck, but all of them have one goal- get you to spend time and money at the studio. A class somewhere else will introduce you to the social scene independent of any one location.

Beginner lessons are normally free before a social dance (dance is $5-10). Try this a few times and then find a progressive lesson so you can get better. Progressive lessons are how you go from beginner to beginner-intermediate.
