Because Tilapia are fucking grown in literal holes dug in the ground in China where the groundwater is contaminated with Cadmium and Mercury and Arsenic and a plethora of other toxins due to a totally unregulated industry in a corrupt and unregulated country, where <1% of the fish product coming in to America is actually tested (none of it is fucking tested) and you are basically eating pure toxic waste.

they're actually high in mercury, almost as high as albacore tuna in terms of mercury. The only fish I buy is salmon and sometimes a flank of wild caught tuna steak
