Well, I'm not a fighter, so a good chunk of that would be useless for me. But I'm currently in the process of assembling my own home gym. I've got a bench and dumbbells, saving up for a squat rack w/ barbell and plates.

I'm in a 3rd floor apartment, so I doubt I'll be doing heavy deadlifts. But I think everything else will be fine. And I'm putting some plywood and mats down to dampen noise and protect the floor.

If you look approachable people will definitely talk to you. Just like anywhere where you see the same people every day. It might be different for me since my gym is small, but I know all of the regulars. If my gym bros are not there one day I'll typically work in with random friends I have there just because working out with other people is more enjoyable. And I wouldn't even say I'm an especially sociable person.
