No, crossfit is strongman for twinks.

Strongman is awesome and it builds real functional strength. It's a weird sport because it has so many events and variants. You need to be strong as fuck, decent conditioning, move fast. More people should be doing some of the events, if you can you should be doing farmers carries, yoke and stone carries.

Well, real functional strength is mostly just good conditioning and nervous system trained to do shit thats not just lifting barbells and pulling yourself up a bar. Gotta agree tho, some of the shit strongmen do is really fucking good. Carries are pretty worthwhile even if your goal is just building muscle. Plus its practical, being able to carry more heavy shit around can be useful. Lifting heavy shit off of the ground too, being able to pick up heavy atlas stones means that you can basically pick up anything you will ever need to pick up in real life.

I think this is open weight category or some shit. When it comes to strength sports, if you dont have to restrict yourself on weight the most optimal thing to do is to just bulk up into space. Even then, they still manage to have decent conditioning despite being so fucking big.

That's what I meant the events actually have direct carryover to real life situations. Especially any carries like atlas and hussafell build that open handed, bear hug strength that is super useful.

Well, the events are based directly on what irl shit strongmen of old did. Lifting heavy stones up off of the ground was a strenght test in many different cultures. No wonder its applicable.
