Sup /fit/, noob lifter here. Ive been having trouble activating my left pec for any pressing motion. Ive tried doing all kinds of warmups with machines/cables/free weight, but my left rear shoulder muscles seem to take over nearly all the load. My right pec is fine, wat do? Pic. Related, but i have my skin on still

are your shoulders shrugged when you are pressing? try to depress your shoulders.
you can feel the difference just by comparing shoulder position and pressing air in an exaggerated way, feel your right pec to see the difference in muscle contraction
Bumping for interest
I find I get the best activation when I do push-ups between sets of any chest exercise. Try doing them a little wider than shoulder width while pushing your hands towards each other.

I try to keep scapulas down and retracted, but even on super light flies i feel rear delt/rhomboid and almost no pec

Pushups are the bane of my existence because theyre great but i cant seem to do em without leading to more imbalances

can you flex your left pec? it may just be practice to activate the muscle.
can you feel it when doing isometric chest contraction?
if you place the palms of your hands flat together and press them together firmly and hold, you should feel pecs

Funny you mention it, i often sit around and try to do just this. However, it seems to be the sort of thing that doesnt translate to actual movements well
