First and foremost the first line of defense would be moving the injection site on a daily basis. Its my understanding that injection sites should be at least 2 inches from previous sites and a quick google shows that Roche has some research into this subject and reccomends the 2" rule.

And since this is a result of injecting insulin one could easily extrapolate that reducing the amount of insulin injected would have an impact on the condition's progression.

I have _NO_ experience in dealing with obesity in type1 diabetics and feel the need to express my reticence with providing this suggestion because I'm not completely familiar with its quirks and such.

But a low carb or keto diet could significantly reduce the amount of insulin you need to inject.

My concern with suggesting this lies in the fact that you are entirely dependant on exogenous insulin. If you do procede you must be comfortable with having a more fine grain approach to your blood sugar control. For example switching from a long acting insulin to a hybrid approach with a single long acting dose with short acting insulin boosters for postprandial control. This would require you to be much more proactive with testing.

Ideally I would suggest you discuss this with a t1d specialist who could better discuss the nuances with you.

t2d are easier. take them off the insulin and food for two weeks and see how their body responds to carb load during the second week of an insulin free two week refeed. repeat as often as needed.

I'm a type 1 and have significantly reduced the amount of shots I take by doing more of a keto diet. went from five shots a day to 2. But if you're really wanting to limit injections do a pump. Don't inject the same site either, that's what causes it many times (happened to my friend, but in his arm) he built scar tissue from it. if it's scar tissue you may be fucked

also you can shorten your needle size. I switched to 5/32'' i think
