Fellow /fit/bros, I NEED YOUR HELP! I've had surgeries for torn labrums in both my shoulders, even after I've spent months/years recovering yet I still experience pain in my shoulders during chest exercises.
My MRIs say my shoulders have healed, too.
What the FUCK do I do guys? I'm only 25, and I will not accept being unable to work out like a fucking cripple. I'm doing PT stretches, but nothing helps with this pain, and I'be already scheduled an appointment with a pain management specialist.

don't do barbell chest exercises. adjust 45 or less angle with dumbbell presses. landmine presses (both hands at once) also seem to not hurt a injured shoulder
do PROPER ohp if you can. do cable flies.
realize that if you're not gonna compete in pl, barbell bench's only advantage is easier loading and progression weight-wise. dbs are superior anyways

Agreed, I've dislocated both my shoulders in the past and they've never quite been the same. I don't touch barbell bench anymore and I try to avoid volume training on chest and shoulders.
Try to get a regular muscle ache but as soon as it starts to hurt, stop immediately. Even if you're 5 minutes in the door, it sucks but honestly it's not worth the risk. Go home, rest and live you train another day.

I've torn both labrums too. Never got the surgery though. I just use a lacrosse ball to massage the pain and stay hyperfocused on my form for bench. I'm a powerlifter so i avoid ohp except the occasional arnold press session. Other than that i deal with the paij because I'm not a fucking pussy.

Couple more tips...
Do tons of pulling exercises
Do band pull aparts + several other band work for the shoulders before every session as a warm up.
Do arm circles amd other dynamic and ballistic stretches.
My doc said I don't have to worry about it getting worse since the damage is done already but I don't know if thats the case post surgery.

>dbs are superior
You cannot get large gains half as quickly with db press man why do people support this meme

Injury avoidance and safety take precedence over gains you "zyzz brah" fucking idiot.

The difference in incidence of shoulder aggravation with dbs and bb exercises is slim to none. They are equally "dangerous" for the shoulder. Perfect your bb bench form and go from there. Perfect isn't just adjustments to bar path or elbow placement, it's the ability to keep the posterior lumbar and posterior thoracic musculature "tight" throughout the whole ROM during every rep of every set to allow greater stability of the shoulder joint.

You're wrong, I've fucked both my shoulders and know from experience that the difference is extremely noticeable. Not having the freedom to change the width of your hand position puts certain pressure on the shoulders that you can avoid with dumbbells.

Thanks, brohs. I'll definitely give all this a try
