I often see people say you just need to "work harder." What does that mean exactly? Is that code word for take steroids? Because it's not like this working out shit is very hard. Most people understanding counting macros and hitting body parts twice a week. But apparently the secret of "working hard" is what they're missing to being shredded

How so? Most other things in life don't come down to picking things up and putting them down, eating the same things everyday to hit certain numbers and sleeping.
I'm sure a lot of people have this down and they really don't look all that good (because our definition of what looks good has been skewed by people who are "working hard" aka taking gear)
