I've been counting calories for the past 3 months and have gone down from a XXL to a L shirt so I feel like it's time to get into running
START SLOW your tendons and bones and shit are gonna be weak af especially if you go on asphalt/concrete

Just eat less. Not even memeing, cardio is just there to burn energy. If you don't take in as much energy you don't have to burn any off via cardio. It'll be safer on your joints this way.

Again, if you don't eat things which clog your heart it won't be a problem. If you seriously MUST do cardio then do something like bicycle or rowing where there isn't so much strain on your knees.
