Started lifting this summer doing 5x5. I enjoyed it but after 3 months I want to do something new.
I lost weight rapidly before lifting and my doctor advises me to maintain weight for awhile 5'10 190lbs. It seems like that cucks me as far as gaining muscle goes.
Would switching to a higher rep range workout plan help me lower body fat percentage more than 5x5 would?

If you're steadily climbing up in lifts, don't change a thing.
Just add a little accessories like curls, chin ups, dips, triceps extensions and a little LIT cardio
