They blindly hate on weightlifting, despite weightlifting being used for a lot of sports like Rugby, Baseball, Football, Track and Field and so on. I can understand you want the toned look, if you are doing calisthenics but don't put down weightlifting.

I'm not big about pushing a routine on anyone, but at the same time please don't play the "calisthenics =! strength" bullshit. Going through cycles of putting on mass and cutting while doing nothing but calisthenics, I got really comfortable in handstand pushups after about 2 years. Never lifted before outside of some benching and squats back in highschool, and the other day a friend let me load up at his place. He freaked the fuck out when I told him I was gonna OHP 2.5pl8 no warm up, bitched about me fucking his floor up or dying in his house. So what happened? 2.5pl8 for fucking reps. Only thing I'll push for calisthenics, you get crazy mind-muscle and isometrics. It's not just for toning if you push yourself.

It's the same with weightlifters. I see a lot of kids 15-20yo, they say they were advised to do calisthenics first and then hit the gym, since the "gym is more advanced". And "bodyweight training won't get you much". Lmao I was thinking the same thing when I started SL5x5. Switching to bodyweight makes me believe there is a God, who is looking after me. Just the mobility gains outweigh the strength gains from SL. I'd rather do 50 yoga positions with a bunch of ugly MILFs than doing Squats, BP, OHP and DL every other day. But you've never experienced the pleasure of moving your body through a new ROM, It's a slightly greater pleasure then hitting a PR in DL.
