I'm 5'11" at 183 LB and I've been lifting (very little cardio) consistently for exactly two months. I'm on the border between healthy weight and overweight, and I'm nowhere near toned. I have not seen significant fat loss during the two months I've been lifting. I have cut out the majority of sweets and soft drinks that I used to consume significantly but have not gotten any leaner. Do you recommend that I just do a straight cut and then bulk, vice versa, or keep trying to lose fat while gaining muscle at the same time?

it's almost like you need to make sure that you actually eat at a deficit consistently for a longer period of time to lose weight
