Focus on socializing for the first week at least. Get to know the people on your floor, wander around campus and make sure to hit the school pub.

In the early goings, everyone is still finding their new social circles and it is an awesome time to get out and meet new people.

You shouldn't have to get a membership to your uni gym, that would all be included in tuition. At least that's how mine is.
