So how many mis/fit/s have odd or unusual sleeping patterns? I tend to have a longer than 24 hour circadian rhythm and often become nocturnal. How unhealthy is it to not force myself to sleep in a 24 hour cycle, anyone have similar problems?

Until recently no, was job hunting for a year. Now I have a salary based job that I can do whenever, I just need to SSH into a server or open up a lab room.

Your circadian rhythm doesn't have an hourly timer like that, it's more about wake/sleep. You just have to train it to work on a 24 hour cycle.
That's why so many people have trouble with their sleep. They either need a sleep aid or a stimulant. They don't know how to make a solid schedule and stick to it. You can't stay up late on the weekend or sleep in, that completely throws off your system. You have to maintain similar habits daily if you want to be able to rely on your circadian rhythm. When you get it right you'll find yourself waking up right before your alarm goes off, you'll be awake right away, and more importantly you'll be fresh and ready for a fulfilling day. With practice you'll even have a rudimentary grasp of time. Most commonly experienced when there's a timer involved and you somehow feel that time is almost up, or someone could ask you what time it is and you might guess something very close to the actual time.
