What's your advice for picking a gym? I was going to do trials at various gyms across town, but after checking Planet Fitness and Gold's, I learned that this is no longer a common practice. Is there a franchise that /fit/ finds to be a cut above the rest, or alternatively to be avoided at any cost?

depends on where you live, but Powerhouse Gym is pretty good. NYSC is also good if you live in jew york

just find any gym close to you that has what you need (racks/cages/treadmills etc) doesnt have to be a franchise necessarily
