In university right now. I thought 3 x a week fullbody routine was good for beginners? I can understand people doing PPL (hitting muscles 2x a week), but 3/4ths of the dude I talk to just hits one group of muscle for 5 days.

They heard it one time somewhere and think its how its done. No matter how many times i tell my dyel friends they still tell me their doing a chest/shoulders day followed by a tris/bis day.
Imagine being at the gym and doing curls and tricep variations for over an hour.

Pretty much this. Splits are good but only good if you hit each muscle group 2 times a week.
