I´m going to start rowing at uni, this is core/quad and back/bicep heavy. Regarding this what would be a good 3 times-a-week split to do lifting next to rowing practice? I allready tried 5x5 icecream and it didnt really work for me, upper lower worked better, but wont I get imbalanced if you row a lot also?
rowing is cardio, just make sure you swap between bow and stroke side every few months so you don't become super disfigured

Yea i was worried about that as well

Rowing is all about the legs, so definitely squating. Also, it's mainly cardio.
Was a former collegiate rower, I'd say do SL 5x5 and supplement with cardio (cycling and rowing) and your solid

Row at ucf and nobody switches sides.
It is cardio but it's intensive cardio. The best thing to train is probably core. One guy squats more than most of the team but has one of the lower ergos. So it's not an exact translation to strength.
Another big thing is tendinitis, I got it really bad in the elbows when I started

Erg?

ergometer, rowing on a machine. But guys I dont mean lifting to train FOR rowing. But I want to have a decent physique, and want to lift for aesthetics NEXT to rowing (for cardiovascular health, core and shredding).

you're meant to switch sides at least every year, used to row at Ox
