It really makes no sense to me tbqh. I could never do pulls ups in elementary school or middle school. However in high school after puberty I became 6'2'' and 180lbs and could do like 3 untrained. All I did was play wow(150 days played on main during high school. career), skateboard, do drugs, and fuck my ex.

Now I do weighted chinups at 175 with 30lbs 3x5-6

But as a suggestion I'd just do some negatives to get form down and lat pulldowns making sure you are mimicking a pull up with the bar. But I also never had this issue.
