Hey /fit/ bros.

Wondering if any of you guys take part in martial arts for competence in fighting? I took MMA classes at uni earlier and it really boosted my confidence and mojo knowing that I was at least somewhat competent if ever I ended up in a fight on a night out. I'm not looking to kick people's asses, just want to have the knowledge that if some idiot attacked me at the bar, I'd be able to hold my ground as a last resort.

Anyways, I'm thinking BJJ is the most useful for this purpose since fights often end up on the ground and I don't want any lawsuits on my hands, just to immobilize the guy til the bouncers split us up.

Maybe incorporating some striking would be beneficial, like say at an MMA gym? Or is going to a real BJJ gym with a good trainer pedigree my best bet? Or maybe judo?

If you're worried about bar fights, you want judo. All around, go with BJJ and muy tai. All three teach discipline and respect.

not really relevant to the topic but
>be me, student at engineering college
>look around for martial arts classes on campus
>there's only one class, in Muay Thai, so I go to it
>everyone there is completely dyel, half are girls
>dyel manlet instructor looks at me and nervously says "h-hehe so are you a wrestler or something??"
>they make us spend 2 hours jogging around the room and punching the air
why do dyel normies delude themselves that doing fake martial arts without doing any weight training will somehow turn them into a fighting machine?

Been jumped a few times working at a strip club. Bjj help me control the dudes trying to wail on me. I felt in control the entire time just using my body weight. Didnt even have to put on submissions. It works.

This is going to suck for you, but here's the best way to find out which school is legit.

Here's the google search for QB City, QB.

https://www.google.com/search?q=quebec+city+quebec%2C+bjj+schools&rlz=1C1TSNO_enUS726US726&oq=quebec+city+quebec%2C+bjj+schools&aqs=chrome..69i57.10927j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

What you want to do is call the school closest to you, get the names of the instructors and then google them. Look for their footage, do not trust "match results". You want footage.

Also, use the googs with their name + "fake".

There are plenty of fake black belts/teachers out there and you won't know without doing your due diligence.

What the fuck does that even mean?

You just want to not back down before you get your ass kicked? You just want enough confidence to call a bluff?

That's pretty sad. Learn to kick ass.
