Anyone here have a hernia? How long after getting it repaired did you have to wait before lifting again?

a year at a very min but ask a doctor wtf are you asking 4chan for that?
Is this a shitty larp I can't tell

I don't see my doc for a number of days and with classes starting back up soon, I wanted to know if I'd be able to use my uni gym in time for that. I read conflicting shit saying it takes anywhere from 4 weeks to several months, and I wanted to know if there are personal experiences with this.
Ask your doctor.

A year is ridiculous. I had two inguinal hernias repaired a few years back, one on each side. At six weeks I started lifting again, just working my way up starting very light.

I would wait 2 months, personally. Would have been smart to ask your doctor this question during one of the probably several times you saw him

Inguinal hernias are different from umbilical hernias
If you had the first, I'd say keep to a non-sedentary pace but don't overdo it during your 4-6 weeks of weight restriction. For an umbilicial, I'd call the damned doc and go back over my release instructions.
You do not want that ripping back open

Some people can't handle doc instructions; the medical profession must be lying.
Realistically, 2 months.

What does a hernia feel like?
Have an inguinal hernia, genetic for sure. Dad and brother both had one. I haven't had surgery to have it fixed yet, my intestines haven't popped into my nutsack yet so I'm gonna keep lifting with out surgery. Been doing it for years, I'll be fine. I've heard 4 weeks recovery is more than enough for upper body, 8 weeks for lower.
