Hey /fit/ just joined the gym this week and went for the first time 2 nights ago. I did 5x5 bench press at 95 pounds and it was quite manageable. However, I could only squat 65 pounds 5x5 and my legs were pretty sore after. It's been 36 hours since then and I still can barely go down the single flight of stairs in my home. Most of the pain is in my thighs and hamstrings and it hurts to flex them.
Is this normal? Did I overdo it for my first time squatting with weights? Should I have just done the bar or fewer sets? Not enough protein or fluids postworkout? Does squatting get easier? Any recovery advice?

When is the next time I can squat? Two more days? I can't even do a bodyweight squat right now.

I've been sore for a full week before.
Do it again whenever you feel ready to because you won't build shit if you dont let the muscle rest.
