My problem is that I'm dumb and free-handing my meals, and I live with my sister temporarily and I can't always get out of "family dinner".

Chicken seems to help a lot with getting protein in as few calories as possible, but my math could be bad.

well using BMR is kind of dumb, but everyone's TDEE is going to be different depending on how much they move around. the best bet would be to figure out your BMR and add something like 10-15% to account for the thermic effect of food and minimum daily activity to not get blood clots or bed sores or whatever, and use that. or find a calculator and set it to sedentary.

i gained muscles on a 500 calorie deficit, just eat a shit ton of protein. it's not really hard, fat-free cottage cheese only has 60 calories per 100 grams and quite a lot of protein. perfect to mix in a whey protein shake with water. if you have access to fresh fish you are lucky because you don't have to eat chicken or turkey every day. eggs are good too, but i unironically don't like the taste of them.

obviously you won't make significant gains but it's better to look dyel and somehow built than like a skinnyfat faggot. if you lift hard and eat right your muscles will grow, 500 calories isn't really that much if you think about it. only after you have achieved a really lean physique i'd start even considering going above maintenance.

I remember I broke my arm in highschool 11 years ago and my gym teacher told me if I worked out my good arm, my broken arm would get stronger as well.

If I work out just my arms, I'll burn less calories for the workout, but the rest of my body should respond and grow more muscle, increasing my metabolism for the least amount of work possible since more muscles take more energy to upkeep. Ive already lost a few notches on my belt just by not eating like shit, but I feel like doing cardio and full body workouts would just burn me out and be overkill for just wanting to lose weight (I dont care if Im healthy).

I need to buy a watercooler for twenty bucks though so I can work my arms out on a bench of sorts. Only so much you can do standing with free weights.

Depends on who you ask. Genreal consensus is that sodium is bad and will cause blood pressure and heart health issues. Fringe/other people believe that it is not the sodium but the processed foods that are usually high in sodium that cause this VIA inflammation. Sodium itself may be fine but if you are getting it from processed items (preserved foods, sauces, etc) then it may be marker for issues. Either way, eat whole healthy foods and you'll be fine. I lost 60lbs over about 4 months on a keto-crash diet, then ended up gaining 150lbs back over the next 4 years.
This time it was 170lbs over 12 months and I'm gonna make damn sure none of it goes back on as fat.

I know "lifestyle change" and all that, but I never want to micromanage my food again for as long as I live.
I'll still weigh myself every week and adjust as I need to, why didn't I just do that in the first place? Save myself all those years.
I just need a firm kick up the backside sometimes.

That's the real benefit on IF imo. Not eating when you are hungry and have food available is a lot easier if you set up a time window in which you can and can't eat.

It's a corrective diet. It's mainly dependent on discipline, to correct old negarive cravings through restraint. The fat loss is the reward for it. By eating less meals, there's a caloric deficit by default so it's nice.

Just eat healthy foods during feed.

You can splurge one day if you deficit the next day - there is no setback.

On a deficit, you are actively setting yourself back - 500kcal over is one day setback.
Say your diet is a 500kcal deficit at 1800kcal.

Have a sensible breakfast and lunch, then say a big meatlover's pizza and a large softdrink for dinner, with a small ice cream as dessert.

If your dinner meal is usually 600kcal, then you've just set yourself back a week in excess calories.
Doing this once a month means every fourth week is for naught.

You want to eat your treats, then plan them into your diet to maintain your deficit.

If you go hog wild with the calories then it can put months onto the schedule.

Guys, I've noticed a pattern. The more time I spend on fat reporting my weight and what I've been doing about my weight loss, the better self control I have when it comes to losing weight.

A whole pizza, a large soft drink a dessert is easily 3,000 kcal, which on a 500kcal deficit is a 5 day setback.
If your diet lasts a year, this would tack two fucking months onto your timeline, even if you only had one cheat day a month.

Plan your fucking diet, don't have "cheat days" until you're fit.
