Doesn't this only apply once you're deadlifting like 300 pounds or more as an average sized guy though

are you positing that the deadlift is never safe? I could feel that way, since I tried to do it for the first time after working out on and off for like 15 years, last week

I could only do 135lbs for 3 reps and it felt like my lumbar spine was trying to snap forward into an L shape

yes and no, far too many guys are watching are either doing them from memory after watching a guy do them properly the day(s) before or from a youtube video, they put way too much weight on and end up hurting themselves, but that's not really a fault with the exercise itself, but a problem with novices attempting an advanced lift.

I see so many guys in the gyms make gains from it. I'm definitely not one in a billion in terms of anything, and deadlifts help me get shredded as fuck

People who have problems with deadlifts either don't use correct form, or are the most unflexible fatasses in the world and should do more stretches
