I had this in my lats when I first started doing chin ups. Insane soreness that lasted like 5 days. I think it was because I never used the muscles in daily life but that's just a gut feeling. May be something similar since traps don't get used very much unless you specifically train them.

You work the traps when doing Dips, so whats the matter? Didn't you expect that? Well, here you go, it even works your Lats, dude. Dips are amazing, but be careful, they can be pretty dangerous
