I was worried about skipping the gym on vacation, but I finally got back into it and I didn't gain any weight, so I'm glad my estimates using MFP seemed to be accurate.

I was happy to get back to lifting today. Feels a little weird, but I'm glad I'm enjoying it.

Yeah, your body adapts quickly to a new feeding schedule. It's uncomfortable but that's kinda the point. Your body is going into "go kill a fucking mammoth and feed me you asshole I normally have mammoth meat at this time" mode. Meditation helps.

Just to share my fasting experience as well. I'm drinking only loads of water at work and then have a good fat dinner which rarely exceeds 1000kcal which leaves me with around 500kcal of headroom for snacks in the evening. I love it, I'm still surprised that the hunger just went away on it's own. I don't know about the other benefits but it really helps with eating at a deficit. But bear in mind that I'm also eating less than 50 carbs a day
>>
>>42352149
>spoiler: your body isn't actually telling you to go kill a mammoth. Your body isn't used to eating mammoth. Your body doesn't call itself an asshole because you haven't eaten and are hungry.

fuck these manlet fatties who have no potential anyway, if us 6'3+ folk are getting under 200, and they're still in the 300's, they can go make a manlet suicide thread instead.

>tfw started at 260, down to 190 now. In October it'll be a year for me since I started.
>>
>>42351998
I've been doing 16:8 for 6+ weeks now and I'm really glad I'm doing it. I have lost almost 20 lbs during that time and, more importantly, I have developed much better eating habits. Most of the time I do not find myself getting all that hungry during the fasting period, and if I do, I know that the feeling will pass within 30 minutes. I also learned how much snacking I did out of boredom/convenience rather than hunger.

IF won't work for everyone. You still need to make sure you're in a caloric deficit. For a lot of people though, if you restrict your eating window, you're a lot more likely to stay under your TDEE.

Not sure if this will be helpful to anyone else, but I came up with a way to stop my compulsive snacking.
I love hot cheetos, but I have a very low spice tolerance. I made it so hot cheetos are the only non-healthy snack I buy.
Whenever I had a craving to snack on something, I'd have a bowl, and it hurt like hell. Hurts like fuck going out, too.
It's kind of a roundabout way I set up for punishing myself for snacking.
One month later, I hate the idea of snacking. I associate it with pain, and lost my desire to eat unhealthy stuff. I have a better appreciation for the nuts and vegetables I've bought, because they don't make my mouth and ass catch fire.
Still fat, but I think I'm on the right track now.
>>
>>42354500
>Better than candy bars and soda

next time eat oats cooked in milk. then add a spoon of peanut butter. its life changing.

>>42354412
I know this feeling; Conditioning is a bitch to break. I have a black coffee or drink 1-2L of water to ignore it
>>
>>42354518
That's not mentally healthy dude, come on. You're not a dog, you don't need to punish yourself because you "did something bad" . You gotta develop a better relationship with food, thats the only way you'll actually keep the weight off. If you find yourself wanting to snack, go do something else. Keep yourself busy. Read, write, draw, go on a walk, or whatever.
>>
>>42354612
Not that anon but I know all too well food addiction and it's a start for breaking it. You're retraining your brain from the ground up, just like you'd raise a child to associate dangerous acts with pain via discipline. Once he's lost weight he can start developing higher awareness for his relationship with food
>>
>>42354420
The fact that you might even think this way says a lot about your lack of basic knowledge on human biology and biochemistry. Stay retarded and stay with your shitty body forever.
>>
>>42354566
A while back, you had mentioned your dad's heart attack, and I remember you mentioned something something Indian. Just curious is all.
>>
>>42354351
yes and no, but I might have body dysmorphia. I'll give you my own experience as someone who's almost close to "making it".
>first 5 kg see nothing much of a change
>next 5 kg seem to notice proportionate decrease in mass everywhere, not much, still look like shit
>last 5kg (up until now) suddenly feel like I've become fatter actually, start noticing more fat than I was aware of, starting to be overly critical of certain areas.
>5 more kg to go, I'm praying I can minimize the damage done to my body image by actually shedding a bit more fat and getting leaner at once, but it looks like I won't be satisfied even then.

To be honest, at this point, I'm just focused on finishing this cut so I can do a long drawn clean bulk and put on some muscle on this flabby mess that I am currently. There's no looking good right now, because there's no making it if you just lose fat, you have to build muscle assuming you don't have it already.
So basically, there will be some noticeable change after a while, but expect a decrease in body image as you get closer to your goal and as a result, lost weight won't be "more noticeable", but actually less.

I worry about a lot of these new /fat/ posters who want to lose weight in the most obscene and insane ways yet come back next week bawling because their weigh in sucked or they feel like garbage. Like I said, he's not a dog. He's capable of higher thought, he's capable of asking himself why he's eating something. He's able to put it down and walk away from it. Creating fear for a type of food is what leads to eating disorders, creating the idea of "safe" and "unsafe" foods is seriously some proana shit. Losing weight is a slow process, there is plenty of time NOW to figure out what his issue is with food. He shouldn't do that at the end of the journey when he's now skinny fat and the idea of eating a chip causes him mental anguish.

There's really not that much of a problem with snacking as long as it's healthy and fits your diet. If you want something to munch on and/or crave sweets just eat low-calorie fruits like berries. Peaches and nectarines are my favorite. It's not rocket science bro, there's no need to flagellate yourself like that.

Yeah I'm guessing he realized he and his team had fucked up big if your dad died because of the sedative, and decided to blame the delivery guy for it by basically assaulting him, meanwhile both your dad and the paramedics are the ones responsible for his dad's heart attack.

Mate it's alright. Mistakes happen and it's good you realize you've made them. Now just got to make the changes to help fix it There are a few things to get in order.

Get your sleep sorted out. Wake up at the same time everyday. Don't look at a screen before you sleep. No caffeine after 6pm.

Make your bed up every morning after you brush your teeth and before you make breakfast.

Throw out all food that can drain your willpower. Don't even think about it. Throw it out before you even get a chance to contemplate about it.

If you get some cravings, get some greek yogurt to snack on, or chug a few litres of water.

Also never ever try to purge. Sometimes we fuck up, and that's okay. But we need to live with those choices. Practically, try to recognize your mental and body behaviors/patterns so that you can recognize when a binge is close. Then deal with it appropriately.

(The first two tips aren't directly weight loss related but doing these small positive things do help getting the ball of meaningful positive change going.)

Most definitely, he hasn't been all there since his stroke a few years back; kinda Air heady. This was a blessing in disguise though because it's finally given him the wake up call he needed to pay more attention to his health and eating; he's even taken an interest is getting fit with me.

I know it's not the delivery guys fault entirely, but still no message, no call, nothing to say it was delayed is still a dick move on their behalf. I was just salty at the time. Apparently the restaurant has 1.5 stars and their punctuality and even not delivering at all is a common issue.

well, I am glad this has been a wake up call at least. Maybe it's not too late for your dad. I hope he gets fit with you, but take it from someone with a diabetic overweight mom, don't beat yourself if you can't make the horse drink no matter how hard you try. I agree that the delivery guy's attempt at giving some news along the way could have given your unfocused dad the warning sign to eat something, and thus prevented all of this. Sure, you have a right to react angrily at what was the root event of the problem at the time. I just tried to play devil's advocate because from a legal and moral standpoint, delivery guy was not at fault. Still he was a part of the problem. It just boggles my mind how many trickles of events like these lead to tragedies happening, like a butterfly effect. Anyone who likes watching investigation shows can relate.

Thanks man. I'm going to try and start meditating, I looked into buddhism today and I think I could have a lot to gain from some increased self awareness. I'm going to get rid of all the shit that I've been binging on asap. Trouble is that I've been cooking a bit too much to eat but too little to keep for leftovers recently then just pigging out on the whole meal to the point I feel uncomfortably full. I have a kitchen scale now so I'll be doing my best to weigh out food before cooking to stop myself from doing this. Also I know it's not great but I'm stocking up on vegetables that I like so that I can binge on them instead of shitty food - part of my binge today included 400g of baby leaf greens in an attempt to fill myself with fewer calories.

220 cals per can and 38 grams of sugar. I screwed up fat. I stopped now but at 2/3rds the can that's still like 25grams of sugar and 135 calories from that drinking.

Fuck I've been doing so well too. Should I expect water weight gains tomorrow from the carbs and sugar?

Weight loss is a long term war. Don't let the loss of one battle feminism your spirits.

Also learn to drink black fucking coffee or crunch caffeine pills. Diet sodas are fucking horrible for you. Salt, chemicals, fake sweets. It just perpetuates the addiction. I was at 12 cans of Diet Coke a day. Switched over to 4 cups of black coffee a day and I lost 10lbs I never gained back. I don't crave Diet Coke or redbull anymore but I'll get some topo Chico for that bubbly.

Other wise it's time to start saving money. It's a lot cheaper than surgery luckily at 5-7k a treatment but it's still a lot as I could need multiple treatments.

Hey anon, if you're still on this thread: Honestly, in your situation I'd just use the opportunity to work on willpower. Make a small change to get yourself used to resisting temptation. Whatever change that is, it's up to you. Maybe only one klondike bar a day or week. People will call me an idiot for such small goals but the idea is to snowball it. And to establish long terms habits.

When you start, you'll have to actively tell yourself no. Over time, "no" will become indifference. The "want" never goes away - why would it? Snacks are delicious - but you learn to say "nah, not right now".

Another way of putting it, when I go to the store I see video games. A lot of video games I'd love to own. But I might glance at them for a second then move on. It's not that I don't want them, but it's that I don't need them this instant. So it will become with junk food. And yes there are times where it is difficult, but it'll happen. Godspeed, anon.

The original argument being that the given advice was discarded because it was soda and not an energy drink therefore, because they are such radically different products the advice did not apply and should not be listened to.

Upon further inspection the reasoning as to why the diet soda themed advice was not listened to was because energy drinks "don't have that syrup shit."

But if we look to the labels between the two drinks that were specifically mentioned, neither of the ingredients have "syrup shit" on the label.

Weird how that goal post keeps moving, huh?

you are currently denying your body the opportunity to use your body fat as your primary fuel source. instead you are eating your celery which in turn pumps up your insulin which in turn activates your hunger hormones. you are ruining your metabolism. your muscles are becoming atrophied to fuck because just when your body is about to dip into ketosis, you feed it a little something and it keeps thinking a meal is gonna come.

if you instead went on a complete fast, not only would you be saying goodbye to hunger, you would also be saying goodbye to body fat. you would see a return to normal metabolism and appetite. you would NEED to take in vitamins and minerals in some form. your body would be pissing out electrolytes that need replacing and are essential to every day functions.

Today I decided to jump into intermittent fasting. If I already dropped soda, sweets, and try not to eat shit - maybe what I needed was some small window, so I don't overeat or snack on shit mindlessly.

I hope I can make it. 150 kg at 182 cm. Fuck.

Answer you want? About an argument that only you have been part of? Why should i do that? They'd love to be slimmer or fitter, but they don't want to give up carte blanche to eat as much as they want to.
And they usually realize this 2-4 weeks into their diet.

>just drank 3 mini bottles of diet coke
>usually go to gym at 7:30 for cardio every tuesday

if I go on the elliptical where I'm bouncing up and down repeatedly for 30-40 minutes am I going to get monumental painful gas or throw up?
I think I fucked up

But eating a PSMF diet, you'd still be eating more than 300 calories a day

I honestly had no idea counting calories and boosting my burn/metabolism with lifting and cardio was so simple and effective. Weight loss seems like something infinitely and easily sustainable to me now.

Guess I was just living in ignorance, but I don't think I ever want to go back to eating junk food.
