I do them, but only for like 30 seconds at the start of every workout, with a 100lb dbell in each hand.
>gives you a quick whole-body pump
>wakes me up properly
>feels like it improves grip strength a little, but not as much as eg cable rows
>gives my hands dem calluses, bitches love calluses

Unless you want to look like an autist or you have the space to do it, go for another grip exercise.

I do them, they get you juicy forearms and grip strength

not gonna make it
I've done them, 5 gallons of water each side, haven't timed it but usually involved walking some distance on uneven terrain. Usually for about an hour, depending on how many plants I'm watering. Stopped once I put irrigation in.

Sometimes to train calves I grab the heaviest dumbbells I can hold and just hold onto them while I do calf raises. I've noticed the weight I can hold on to is increasing so it's definitely working grip strength, plus it means I don't have to walk around the gym trying not to bump into anybody like a drunk autist.
