I did SS and it worked great for me. I did SS for about 8 months though before transitioning to Stronglifts. I think some people start SS and do it for years without realizing it's supposed to be a beginner program to get your core strength where it needs to be for serious lifting, not something you continue doing for aesthetics.

Do Stronglift instead but drop squats to 3x5, and always follow the ABA week format. Never do BAB weeks. Add chins to A days, add dips and barbell curls to B days. Add hanging leg raises every day.

Workouts should look like this:

A day:
3x5 squat
5x5 bench
5x5 rows
2x10 chins (move into 3x5 weighted)
3x10 leg raises

B days:
3x5 squat
5x5 OHP
1x5 Diddly
3x10 barbell curls (or 3x6-8 progressive loading)
2x10 dips (move into 3x5 weighted)
3x10 leg raises


Once you hit 1.25x bodyweight squats, move up to 3x8 reps on bench, rows, and OHP for 12 weeks, but still use progressive loading. This will require a slight deload, but will prevent muscle adaptation to the 5x5 routine.

Add a light day of lat pull downs, skull crushers, dumbbell curls, and side lay raises after your third workout if you feel like you recover well and your diet is keeping up.

where should I stop if I do SS? I did for a while and I stopped now. I'm 5 foot 8/78.5kg and my stats are:

100kg x 6 squat
110kg x 6 deadlift
70kg x 6 bent over row
67.5 x 6 bench press
60 x 2 OHP (47.5 x 6 normally)

4 chin ups, 11 dips. Currently doing candy toe's strength/hypertrophy

what do? Back on ss? I could never read the full thing, it's so fucking thick. I already know all the forms, I just wanted to know what accessories to do on top of the main 5 compounds, because he does recommend some.

You can tell that /fit/ is a meme

I guarantee you, with any resemblance of lower body strength, this specific pose is meant to have the hamstrings activated but the glutes not. This is why the deadlift is positioned the way it is, to allow hamstrings to lift the weight off the ground, and when it gets past knee height, use the glutes to push through

Literally everyone who is not a dyel would look like this when using this pose.

Tl;dr: you will only look like a T-rex in comparison to lifters who never train legs. Legs is half your body, to achieve a perfect physique, legs should be half your training. This picture is a meme
