I was told I had to lose about 80lbs to be a healthy weight. I've lost 20 so far, but I'm terrified of being left with all the flabby excess skin after losing all the weight and looking like an elderly person.
Is there any way to either prevent it or minimize it?
Yeah. Don't get 80lbs overweight in the first place.

Wait for it to tighten or fill with gains.
Sorry bro, just use it to remind you of all the hard work you don't want to lose. You look much worse fat

it's a sad scar of a decade+ mistake op. i believe the skin gets less saggy with time when you're still young. if you are only 80lbs overweight then if you start lifting you might be able to 'fill out' your skin a bit with muscle.
i'm going to have to save up a lot of money for skin surgery. gonna have to live with compressions shirts/pants for a while once i hit my goal. oh well.

you wont have any from losing that much weight, you usually get it from losing at least 100 pounds

Good luck with your goal!
How much have you lost so far?

i have a set of electronic scales but i seriously doubt theri accuracy (because I think I weigh too much for them). but i've started wearing clothes again that were simply too tight to wear only a few months ago. suit jackets that wouldn't close can now comfortably be buttoned up, and my watch waggles a lot on my wrist when before it was digging into it. so basically that is my metric for the time being until i either get my hands on some scales that work or i lose enough weight to get within the range of the scales.
