I wear then for lifting, running, and often just about town. I've done so for about 8 years now.

They're the only footwear I've found that helped with my ankle and knee pain. Most people that give them a try and don't do crossfit-level stupid training find them bretty gud.

You don't need socks; the shoes are machine washable and designed to be worn with or without socks. But I wear socks with them because it stretches out how often I have to wash the shoes themselves. Plus the socks are nice under my uniform socks in winter.
