Insecure because the other kids care about something you dont?
Fuck off with your negativity or contribute.
Also the pics posted so far arent just the mainstream shit.
And even IF you were right, why wouldnt you want to encourage plebs to google some paintings? Literally nothing bad can come of it. Fucking edgelords
>>
>>42254284
There are certainly some. If they enjoy the art enough to save and share it then it has served a purpose. Perhaps not the purpose you deem "acceptable" but a purpose regardless.
Stop being a pretentious nigger and post some art you like, you're welcome to add a short description of it if you think it'll be better enjoyed that way.

You go to the closest museum that has good shit and actually look at paintings. The ones you like you type in your phone with the name of the artist. Then you google the artist at home to get a feel for his/her art.
If you like it you go to another museum that has his paintings and look around there as well.
Just embrace the rabbit hole.

Pop philosophy is cool because it gets people interested in philosophy in the first place, but it's also a hindrance.

>“Atheists. What grounds have they for saying that no one can rise from the dead? Which is harder, to be born or to rise again? Habit makes us find the one easy, while lack of habit makes us find the other impossible.”

Yeh. I'm reading it in Spanish, so it can get a bit too contrived for my fragile little brain. I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like reading it in original 1600's French.
Planning to read a Thesis on Islam and Judaism, or a Bolshevik novel after I'm done with Les Pensées. Gonna be fun getting back into reading once again.

>Thereupon many statesmen and philosophers came to Alexander with their congratulations, and he expected that Diogenes of Sinope also, who was tarrying in Corinth, would do likewise. But since that philosopher took not the slightest notice of Alexander, and continued to enjoy his leisure in the suburb Craneion, Alexander went in person to see him; and he found him lying in the sun. Diogenes raised himself up a little when he saw so many people coming towards him, and fixed his eyes upon Alexander. And when that monarch addressed him with greetings, and asked if he wanted anything, "Yes," said Diogenes, "stand a little out of my sun." It is said that Alexander was so struck by this, and admired so much the haughtiness and grandeur of the man who had nothing but scorn for him, that he said to his followers, who were laughing and jesting about the philosopher as they went away, "But truly, if I were not Alexander, I would be Diogenes."

Whats shit about it?

Fucking hell. His paintings did lack a degree of technical quality... But he was literally untrained. It was a fucking hobby. He didn't go to art school. His paintings are leagues above what the average person can do.

>his perspective isn't great
>some technical slights
>lmao shit painter

Honestly I fucking hate holocaust studies. Its all a bunch of fucking propaganda, least fucking historical part of history studies ever. Nazis are bad, they were uncultured, they didn't create art; this is literally a fucking mainstream belief until relatively recently.

I almost used it as the basis for my dissertation but my lecturers told me it was more philosophy than history.

Don't fucking trust literally the only area of history where the term "revisionist" is negative, and yet where numbers of "holocaust victims" are constantly revised and increased. This is literally the thing that caused me to stop being a liberal. Everything in history is examined objectively and dispassionately until you get to the holocaust.

WWII History is so embroiled in outside politics that finding a reasonably unbiased source is near impossible.
The standing history of Hitler paints him as the worst human to disgrace the earth. I find that difficult to believe. What of Stalin or Mao?
There stands today a sense of ideological dishonesty when it comes to investigating the Reich, especially the study of the Holocaust.
History is not set in stone, this is both good and bad, but when the mere question of the validity of historical death tolls and treatment of political prisoners is shunned and sometimes illegal I become incredibly suspicious, as should anyone who considers themselves a student of history, be that professionally or as a hobby.
There is no aspect of history that should be above question. Period.

There's plenty that's subjective you smug asshat. Even a liberal Jewish lecturer with a fucking tattoo on his arm to "always remember" will tell you that. Because that's literally who my lecturer was for Holocaust studies, you clod.

The issue is that historiography goes right out the window and if you don't judge them negatively you're demonised.

We even discussed how several survivor testimonies were clearly exaggerated or even fake. The issue is that the excuse would then be that they were so "psychologically effected" that their memories were impaired, or that it was merely an attempt to convey the horror and terror they felt.

Historians even argue over whether Hitler ever gave a specific "round them all up and gas them" order.

I was literally attacked during a seminar and my lecturer had to step in on my behalf because I tried to humanise the Germans. Because I dared suggest they were simply normal people and that we could easily find ourselves performing the same acts if we were in their position.

There has ALWAYS been subjectivity over the numbers; they HAVE been revised before. All figures are ESTIMATES. They have recently been said to possibly be as high as TWENTY MILLION when before there were only TWELVE MILLION. There is debate because they have to categorise whether the death was due to deliberate victimisation or whether it was as an "indirect" result of the war.

"Revisionist" doesn't mean you have to claim it didn't happen. But it does mean that the question of the scope of the holocaust is up for debate; BECAUSE IT LITERALLY IS AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN. But of course in your mind that means I'm saying the number should be reduced to "only 400k" or something retarded.

Always some fucking smartass mouthing off about shit they barely fucking comprehend. I swear to fucking god. The moment you criticise holocaust historiography and popular images of Nazis, retards come crawling out the woodwork.

Can you blame them though? I don't know what your school education was like, but here it's generally very very black and white. "Hitler bad, jews dindu nuffin."

We had that drilled into us from kindie until the last year of high school. Every single film involving Hitler and he Germans portrays them as an evil monsters that just enjoyed killing.

Our education, parents, peers and all of popular media have always instilled a one sided view of things, so to step outside of that is to essentially declare all of that as false. It's not easy to do, is basically what I'm trying to say.
