/fit/ I need your help
whenever I squat I either:
keep knees behind toes, but lean forward too much (no butt win though, straight back)
or if I straighten my torso out more my knees track beyond my toes a little bit.
which one of these is better form? I can't maintain both otherwise the bar goes behind my midfoot and I fall backwards.

Let knees track beyond toes, it's literally a non-issue as long as you stay in control.
>>
>>42235935
knees pretty much have to go past toes for a long femured squatter

>>42236682
No, I don't agree with this. Knees past toes means you're doing knee and hip positioning wrong if you're doing low bar

>>42236336
Also this

>>42235935
widen your stance and point your toes out, sit in-between your legs like a frog
>>
>>42237810
Knees past toes is arbitrary and stupid. What if somebody happens to have longer feet? They are just allowed to track further right, even though literally nothing else is different?
>>
>>42237970
It's an indicator of bad form. You're making a stawman argument
>>
>>42237970
No, there's a difference. When knees are above the foot, the weight distributes along the midfoot, up the shin, and across the femur...
When you overextend, you're putting the knee in front of the midfoot, meaning that the weight has to be redirected by the knee onto your foot, which puts way too much stress on the knee.

I may not be explaining this super well. I'm drunk.

Tldr; not the same, longer foot means more area to distribute weight across until you get undue pressure on the knees.

>>42238029
Well that depends. Most people highbar squatting deep will inevitably have their knees travel past their toes. Go tell the world's best olympic lifters they are squatting wrong.

However, its true that people whose squat has the barpath past the midfoot could have their knees go past their toes. That would be some fucked up form, so it is an indicator in that sense.

But your original post didnt make that distinction, so excuse me...
