Is dumbell flat bench superior to barbell flat bench for hypertrophy?
>>42218310
I like to think so.
>>42218310
For chest hypertrophy, yes. Incline being even more superior in terms of full (upper/lower) pec development.

Why not both?
>>42218421
You could, but i think fatigue would become an issue, however you could switch it for each chest session or so.

I don't think it's that big of a problem.
I am doing both exercises at least twice a week with 3-4 sets.
It also depends on how much volume you want to do and your routine.
you need both.
bench press will build mass + strength
dumbbell bench is good for symmetry, and building stabilizers in the shoulders.

Based answer.
I have really good progression with focusing on strength on the barbell, e.g. 5x5 or 5x3 depending on the mood with additional dumbbell isolation 3x8-12.
My shoulder joints thank me for that.

Could be right, mine is just from my personal experience, i used to to do both as well but i ended up having to ditch one since my lifts weren't going anywhere.
My conditions were good diet and a strong caffeine intake before workout - But dumbbell press and incline press seems much better for me atleast.

Interesting, and to be honest with you I currently face no progression aswell.
But I think its because of cutting and because my lifts are somewhat advanced.
Currently flat-barbell benching 290lbs (~130kg) for 5 reps at 190lbs (~86kg) bodyweight.
My one rep max is around 330lbs (150kg).
Maybe after I cutted I will take your approach and lower the volume and focus more on flatbenching to get my lifts a bit more up.
