starting to have serious doubts lads
I'm 10lbs away from where I want to be, but I don't think I can keep this up
I've been binging more and more lately, so much so that it's starting to wear down my spirit.

Even if I do get there, I won't stay there.
I never did in the past, and nothing has changed since.
I can watch what I eat, try to eat healthily, but I'm still just a fat guy in a thin guy's body.

I'll keep going for as long as I can, maybe that will be forever, maybe not.
>>
>>42202548

You need to change your mindset m8. You're binging more now because you're very close to your goal and feel more secure in cheating some.

Lower your goal another 10-20lbs. That way you won't be able to slip right back into disappointing territory. For me my "true goal" is to maintain weight somewhere in the 160 range. However I'm not going to stop cutting until I reach 150. That way I won't slip right back to borderline overweight territory right away.

Just walk. 10k steps minimum every day, 5 miles or more if you can.

Its easy, you can listen to music or even play with your phone while you do it.

But really ,try many different kinds of exercise and find something you enjoy. Go to ymca and try swimming. Join a cheap gym and fuck with some machines, or an exercise bike, or the elliptical.

Asking other people what we do won't teach you what you like, and that's the only exercise really worth doing because if you don't enjoy it you won't do it anyway.

This is purely water retention and sugar.

I REPEAT FOR ANY FAT FUCKS READING THIS, IT SHOULD BE A BANNABLE OFFENSE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT WEIGHT CHANGES THAT OCCUR UNDER A WEEKS TIME.
DON'T FUCKING WEIGH YOURSELF MORE THAN ONCE A WEEK, THE WEIGHT YOU SEE ISN'T REAL.

Protip: Your body cycles through roughly your own bodyweight of ATP a day.
You 210 pounds?
You produced 210 pounds of just one molecule today.
Day to day weighing means jackshit.
Complaining about a binge and saying "yeah it took me 4 days to get back to where I was" is stupid.

It's about the journey m8s.
If you want map out your progress in excel and right click your line and allow it to show your R^2 value.
1 is perfect linear relationship.
Anything above 0.8 is substantial and should tell you that without a doubt you are doing it right.

Sorry for the caps but assholes need to read this post, weighing yourself all the time doesn't create more data points since the data is invalid.

Shoot for low body fat. If your are anything like most people here your original goal weight will probably have you looking skinnyfat. Getting your body fat % lower will cut that lower, and then building muscle will feel more rewarding.
>>
>>42202841
>that would put me at underweight

No, not at all. If your goal is already to be at borderline underweight then that should be good.
>>
>>42202883
I meant to quote more. What I mean is that you should not aim for being underweight.
>>
>>42202833
Try it, but if your don't like it don't force yourself. Exercise shouldn't be awful, and most people seem to think it should be.

One flaw in C25K is that it doesn't have repeat weaks or strength training. If your current week is too hard, repeat the previous week. If you start getting into running, add strength training to improve your running even more.
>>
>>42202774
>DON'T FUCKING WEIGH YOURSELF MORE THAN ONCE A WEEK, THE WEIGHT YOU SEE ISN'T REAL.

That's exactly why you should weigh yourself every day. Your weight fluctuates due to various factors. How much food is being digested, whether or not you took a shit recently, how much water weight you have etc...

The best way to get an accurate idea of your weight is to weigh yourself daily and be aware of your highs and lows and what factors seem to contribute to where you currently are.

The key is to UNDERSTAND this and not freak out because you went up a pound or two from the previous day.
>>
>>42198402
I went drinking with friends tonight and drank at least 800kcal worth of beer, according to MFP.
>>
I've stalled for two weeks after months of consistent weight loss.

Option A: stay the course at 1300cals, about a 900 cal deficit

Option B: eat at maintenance for 3 days, to "reset"

Option C: eat 800 cals for a few days to kickstart weight loss

What's the best option, or try each one and see if it sticks?

Or: now that I'm on a linear progression strength training program, are these noob gains?
>>
>>42202979

>>42203193

>>
Should I continue to cut, lean bulk soon or just do keto to lose the fat quickly? I'm 178cm tall, weigh 71kgs with a bf% around 20-24, have love handles and some fat in my chest.
>>
>>42202571
It's easier to maintain once you're there than it is to get there. If you're on a 500 kcal deficit to lose your last 10 lbs, that means you'll be able to maintain at like 450 kcal higher than what you're eating now (I subtracted the 50 to account for weight loss decreasing your TDEE a little bit, this may not be exactly accurate). An additional 400-500 kcal a day is a huge difference. That can be a pint and a half of Halo top, or a couple chicken breasts, or like 4-5 bananas, or like 4 servings of greek yogurt, or even 3-4 cookies or some shit like that.

Just reach your goal anon, then it gets a bit easier. You just can't completely let your guard down, or you'll balloon up again.

>>
>>42203984
Yeah, it's a fitness tracker / limited smartwatch by Garmin.

This one is more for runners. It has GPS and a heart rate monitor to track your runs, but it also counts steps, resting heart rate, inaccurate estimate of calories burned, let's you control smartphone music and read messages from your phone.

It also has apps, so I'm going to use it to track strength training too even though that isn't built in.

I used a Fitbit band that only counted steps, heart rate, and inaccurate calories, so I'm excited to upgrade.

They aren't necessary, but I found the fitbit was a big help when starting it giving me goals to hit and then quickly surpass as I got more serious.

Here's a good analogy. When Buddhist monks meditate they aren't trying to find the most quiet place to relax. They are actively training their attention and focus. Every sudden noise in their environment is a new temptation to block on the way to a calm mind.

The same can be said about dieting. You must focus your attention and notice when temptation comes. Your mind will wander naturally, maybe settle on a Cheeseburger, or Pizza. You have to catch that thought and analyze where it originated. Consciously beating your mind is the most difficult task a person can do, and when you successfully take control it will feel like climbing a mountain.

All Peace to You,
Disco

That's just useless and causes stress.
Week to week can still be skewed if you aren't consistent, like eating salty food before weighing in one week.
This can be accounted for by just knowing you counted calories correctly and looking at the trend.
Weighing yourself everyday is indicative of mental illness and I'm not shitposting, this is obsessive behavior that will lead you into either anorexia or catapult you back into obesity.
Counting calories on the other hand can be done with good mental health, the only thing /fat/ needs to understand, which most of /fit/ does, is that eating something you are not sure of is okay every once in a while.

You can still eat something grandma cooked you or go to the bar every once in a while, counting calories shouldn't make you develop a need where you have to know EVERYTHING, it should help you know how much you eat in your normal life 95% of the time.
>>
>>42204703

Chia/Flax seeds are healthy and have good amount of fiber.
Fiber One cereal has a very large amount of soluble fiber for the calories.

Try to be healthy both mentally and physically when losing weight bros.

>>42202568
Just have solace in that beer makes you retain water and shit food also has a lot of sodium.
It's okay to go out socially and have shit eating habits once or twice a month (as long as you aren't truly feasting on 10,000 calories) but weighing yourself the next morning is just going to make you have a bad time.
Your body is going to be retaining water and all the extra food is still swimming around in there, just give it a few days.
>>
>>42204345
Doesn't look too bad with certain styles so you might have to change it up a bit.
Most of these styles are considered by people here probably hipsterish or "slacker" but it's honestly one of the few things that works with ill-fitting clothes.
If you are losing weight and people notice they won't care or judge as much, you're gonna make it.

Maybe search the /fa/ archive and see if they have experience with it, might be interesting with what those /fa/ggots have come up with.

Increase you calorie intake to maintenance and keep lifting.
You'll still lose weight and stop stalling, if you start stalling again then just very slowly increase intake up to 300+ calories above maintenance.

When people say "stalling" they mean they aren't able to lift more usually, that's what I assumed you meant since plateauing is what people use when they can't lose more.
It's just semantics really but a bit confusing, especially when you aren't that big.

Different bodies react to different things, I've seen a few sources indicating that carb refeeds might work but it doesn't seem to help everybody.
Personally it works well for me, if I'm stuck the best thing to do is eat 500-1000 calories above maintenance for 3 days and make sure it's mostly carbs.
It honestly works better with shit food like an entire little caesars pizza, I practically shit myself and somehow I start burning fat again.

Carbs aren't essential while the body needs fats and some essential proteins.
Fat is great for hormones and satiety, that's pretty much it.
I don't demonize carbs like a lot of people but they do tend to not be very filling.

I recommend (don't ever base your life choices on one post, google shit) eating high protein, high fiber, moderate fat, low carb.
I'm talking a bowl of fiber one or something equivalent to start the day and eating greens with every meal, will be full as fuck with a shit ton of vitamins.
Healthy fats too, like from fish.
>>
>>42206023
Did you steam the frozen vegetables?
Because that's what you should be doing.

Corn has little nutritional value and satiety, a shit tier vegetable that is only eaten so much because of the US having so much of it.
Buy a bigger bag of rice.
Buy bags of dried beans, super cheap but you have to soak them overnight before cooking.
Beans are high in protein but if you need help google seitan and vital wheat gluten.
You can get 4 lbs of gluten for like 15 bucks online, almost pure protein and is cheaper than chicken.
Only problem is it's missing two essential amino acids but as long as you eat beans and other shit you should be fine.

Eggs don't go bad very fast so buy in bulk, at least 18 count cartons but you can get much larger.

As far as kitchen shit goes everyone should own a steamer basket, crockpot, and kitchen scale.
Crockpot is GOAT for making food taste good and last a long time, fill it with spices and beans with seitan and you got a gains train lasting a week.
Drink your water btw faggot.

Boiling would just make them soggy and gross.
Steamer baskets that just go in your pot are incredibly cheap so get one.
Google "poor healthy living" or something, some blogs are just people posting their weekly budget (like sub 25 bucks) and they actually get quite a bit for it.
Don't be scared of looking at vegan or vegetarian ones either, I'm not vegan but they have some good food choices though.
Any meat should be the cheapest cuts you can find at the store, but honestly I would just go with eggs.

Also general fatty reminder, if you like your bread you can add vital wheat gluten to it if homemade.
This will make the macros far more sides with protein, try it.

Shitty idea don't do it. Learn to eat good food appropriate to your TDEE.

Take it a day at a time, and don't give up. Eat under your TDEE, and if you feel like you need junk food have some. Just fit it into your TDEE. You'll see the calories aren't worth it and want it less and less.

That first week sucked hard, because I didn't have the strength, conditioning, or cardiovascular fitness, but having pushing through, I'm so fucking glad I did. Discomfort should be carefully monitored so you don't hurt yourself, but also so you don't give up if it's in the normal range rather than the threatening-injury range.

>>
>>42206721
Why would you care? It's just water weight, it's not fucking possible to gain 5lbs in a day dude.

When you're eating really really small, there's not a lot of food in your intestines and stomach. Then when you weigh yourself in each morning, or however often you do, you get the lowest possible weight for your body. So when you go out with friends and eat much more than normal, the following morning there is more in your stomach and intestines than normal, and the number is higher. You didn't gain all that as weight. Just don't do it too often and you'll be fine.

That's not how it works, dummy. Your body is burning calories. It TDEE is how many calories you burn in a day. At long as your calories are below that amount, your body will burn them. You'll lose weight slower, but your won't be gaining.

you could reasonably cut 3-5% bf more.
In the end it depends if you want to lay the ground work now and have a good starting base for a long clean bulk, or if you're ready to start now and will have to cut later a bit deeper than you would if you'd have shed those last % beforehand. If you're "dirty" bulking, it doesn't matter you'll have to cut deep anyway after that.

It would explain how you would feel "skinny" still at such a weight, since muscle is less dense than fat. Do you have a picture? I'm curious to see the results. Also could serve as a good reminder for anyone prepping for a bulk to take some good measures regarding how to bulk properly.

>>
>>42207348
well, at least you probably already have an idea on what to do in terms of weight lifting, maybe you already have been through a linear progression program, know the basics lifts form and such. That's some time saved being ignorant. Your downfall seemed to be discipline in diet, which probably led to no results, and as a consequence abandoning ship for lifting too.
Focus on fixing your diet now, I mean hitting your perfect macros very regularly, and improving the quality of food you eat to get your micros in too.

kek you're a lightweight dude.
I just came through a week long plateau after my weight increased by a kg in one day and I had to gradually lose all that water weight throughout the course of a week before going back to previous recorded weight, then wait another week to see some actual progress.

0.1kg should be the least of your worries. Actually even 1kg of water weight isn't bad, it's just a mental setback because of the hit your motivation will take if you don't rationalize it.
Take it easy.
>>
>>42206653
I've actually talked to a med student about this
that claim is total bullshit
the bulk of the calories are absorbed in the lower intestines, not the stomach
the stomach just digests the food so it passes through the intestines easily as liquid mush

I agree with you that vomiting to stave off weight gain is dumb, but I have to correct you on this because I see it parroted often by people who hear it and never bother to check the validity for themselves.

I need help guys. I've been doing OMAD basically for like a couple months now, but lately I have started to feel hungry as fuck during the day, even if I eat a sufficient amount during my meal (dinner).
Anyway I've made enough fasting gains now that I can safely go back to eat 2 meals a day and doing IF 16:8 for the rest of my cut.
Any fasting anons here can tell me what to expect going back to more meals? I don't think I'll binge or go over my deficit, but I'm honest to god scared I'll fuck my shit up now that I'm used to one insulin spike a day. Will the hunger increase as I start to eat more?
tl;dr give me the rundown on what to expect in terms of adjustments when reintroducing two meals and more a day.

10lbs in 2-3 months should not be that big an issue. What's your TDEE and what have you been eating at lately?

I know it gets harder to drop weight the lower you get and that everyone is different but I've been losing weight steadily sub-200, I'm currently 186 and still have been losing several pounds a week roughly. my limit is 1,700 calories but some days I will only eat around 1,000. Plus I do IF fairly consistently which I am assuming helps but I really cannot be positive as to how much.
>>
>>42207522
>>42207565
You girls can make it, it's fine to give yourself timelines and to go by deadlines to reach but don't let it become a fatality. It's a journey. Honestly, you'll start liking what you see very soon, just keep going and don't...weigh in the cons as bad as the goods. Remember what you're doing it for.
I started my own weight loss 1st of may at around 142lbs and today I weighed in at 113lbs.
Going for 100lbs. So it's not impossible to make a 29pound loss in about three months. I did work my butt off and make a drastic deficit to achieve it, but it's just because I was in a time crunch. Now that I've made 3/4 of the way, I'm going to relax and lower my deficit, and just cruise for a good three to four months to lose the last 13lbs.
Just keep going anonettes, you'll get there. It really doesn't matter when. Halfway there you'll already feel good about where you're at.

okay thanks for the advice. If it's anything like the hunger I already feel doing OMAD, I can take it, I'm a big girl. I'll reintroduce other meals progressively. Probably go for a small snack, then a couple snacks and then a full meal into my eating window.
Don't worry I have a digital scale I use adamantly, and I track calories autistically, often overestimating.
>>
>>42207616
do a refeed idiot, instead of literally killing yourself.
You have to kickstart your metabolism, your organs are probably shutting down, your stomach included, that's why you're not losing weight anymore. Eat for a couple days (I'd suggest at least a week in your moron extreme case) at maintenance, and then gradually reintroduce a deficit. And hit your fucking macros and micros, or else you're on the fast track to nutritional deficiency city and that's bad news, anon.
>>
This might be a stretch, but any guy from here living in South Korea or with experience losing weight in Korea?

I'm going to be living there for a year. I have experience with Korean food and they really love their white rice, noodles, and when they make meat they use a lot of sugar. I don't know how to control myself eating there.

Is white rice really that fattening? Will I be okay if I'm actually used to eat plenty of white rice ever since I was a kid?
>>
>>42207690
there are two Japanons that I know of that browse /fat/. As per foods you should have, focus on the high protein seafoods, the Korean barbecued meats (only those that are not seasoned with condiments, and that you can broil in those pots or grill on the hot plates directly). Eat the vegetables, focus on filling up on protein, then veggies, then carbs such as grains and wheat based stuff if you really can afford it calorie wise.

>>
>>42207716
you won't gain fat weight if you eat at maintenance. How little do you know about weight loss, anon?
Most you can do is gain a little water weight because of the new intake of sodium, but that's something you can shed easily after that.
Also if you'd rather die miserably than gain a temporary pound to reset your system, you don't deserve being healthy.
>>
>>42207723
I ate on Monday at maintenance but I didn't reset anything so idk if it can be possible
>>
>>42207717
t-thanks anon, means a lot.
Been here on and off since 2010, but up until 2015 I was skinny or fit. Some circumstances in life, my own personal failures, led me to put on the weight.
I am only 8lbs from my "pre-weight gain" weight, though, and it feels fucking fantastic. Next is working on getting back in that shape, as weight is not so much an indicator of good body composition.
>>
>>42207737
And so the "nothing" burger unravels to reveal more truth.

So technically, you've been eating pickles and apricots on your "fasted" days, had a maintenance day on monday, yet you claim to have eaten "nothing" for two weeks.
Here's a couple tips :
1. Pickles have high sodium. Depending on the amount you've eaten over the course of these two weeks, you will probably have put on a couple pounds water weight just because of them. It means you have lost fat, because of your deficit but it doesn't show because of water weight.
2. You ate at maintenance for a day. This is not enough to reset your metabolism when you've been eating less than <500 calories for two weeks. I suggest to try it for a week. Then gradually reintroduce a deficit.

Clearly you know very little about how weight loss works and just jumped on the fasting meme without doing your research. It works, you're not doing it right.
>>
>>42207768

yep. I don't get why this guy keeps shilling his OWIAW (One Weigh-In A Week) stuff. I know he wants the people just starting not to lose their shit at the first sight of stagnation or regression, but really that's an important lesson everyone should learn, and one of the first few ones. Weight is not a constant, it's a fluctuation. By definition, any scale of grandeur, unit of measurement through time, whether it's quantum seconds or eternity is the same (really makes you think about life...), the same neutral object and holds the same function : measure.
So apply some good measure and pick a good time, so to speak, it should not be up to anyone else but you to determine at which speed/distance you wish to hold measurements on a certain aspect of your life (mass).
