How long are you dudes resting in between sets?
For a long time I've used 2-3 minute rest periods between work sets. This basically means an awful lot of standing/sitting around and turns every workout into a 90-120 minute slog.
Yeah, it allows my muscles to rest sufficiently enough to go heavy for 5 whole work sets, but it's no longer practical for me to be having 2 hour 'workout' sessions that are mostly me just sitting on my arse doing fuck all.
Today I switched it up and took a 30 second rest between each work set, to see how much volume I could get done in a considerably smaller time frame.
MAN I HAVE BEEN MISSING OUT.
Feels like I've just worked out for the very first time. Unreal pump, almost instantaneous DOMs, workout done and dusted in a fraction of the time it usually takes...
Even with less rest I managed to hit almost every rep just as I normally would do but it was much more intense and I feel like this is a much better approach to improve strength and work capacity.
My muscles stayed 'hot' throughout the workout without that 2 minute window for them to cool down. Once I got going every set felt smoother and stronger like I got into a groove.
Anyone else make the switch? I can't believe I've wasted so much fucking time when I could have just been blasting out a more efficient workout.
