What do you guys eat before a workout? A few days ago I had a super shitty workout after not eating breakfast and eating only a banana before hitting the weights. How much food and what types of foods should I be ingesting before, and how long should I wait before starting?
I usually wait at least two hours after last meal to workout. I take a preworkout or just some caffeine before to give an energy boost.

Personally I found that eating some peanut butter before I work out gives me a good burst of energy. Kind of whatever works for you, but don't eat heavy filling food in my opinion
My best performance is when I have a large meal around 1-1.5 hours before lifting. And by large meal I mean 2 plates full with some kind of meat/carb/veggie combo.
I tried fasted training (with BCAAs), total shit.
Really anything less than a full meal is suboptimal for me. I either have no energy to begin with or I run out if steam after an hour or so. And with my workouts taking usually more than 1.5 hours, I need the fucking energy.
I would like to lift in the morning, but I don't know what I could eat that would provide me with the necessity energy. And I also have not really any appetite in the morning...
