Fasting for fat loss, possible to maintain muscle?

I'm 48 hrs. into my first fast and I'm starting to hallucinate and shit. Seeing demons fucking penguins and shit.

Anyway what do you think about heavy weight training while fasting? Any benefit or should one keep stick to primarily cardio?

You really shouldn't do anything intense while fasting. Anything where the body requires glucose means it has to use gluconeogenesis to break down protein into glucose.

Look at fasting as short term and go for long walks if you want to lose fat faster. You'll feel weaker when you start lifting again, but that's mostly from not lifting, losing a bit of muscle, and being underfed. In a week after eating normally again strength levels should be about where you left off.

Regardless, if you're actually hallucinating I'd break the fast. Don't be dumb.

I am in month 7.5 of IF.

I do 16:8, and I always do cardio and weights after fasting 13-14 hours, empty stomach. Never lost muscle. HGH production increases hundred-fold after 12-13 hours of fasting (look it up).

your body will crave carbs the first week and you will get weaker lifts during those 5-7 days, but after you get used, you will never feel weak or dizzy again. I have gone 24 hours while doing HIIT twice and lifting on the same day and it felt fine.

i do eat carbs and think keto is retarded, by the way (I like my test, thank you), I eat everything at night.

You shouldn't do anaerobic exercises (strength) in a fast, at most you could do light cardio like biking or just going with your everyday life, you shouldn't sit your ass all day just because you aren't taking any calories either.
