so /fit/ i just started going to the gym and hit the treadmill after deciding ive had enough of being a lazy fucker
basically my shins are fucking killing me whenever i run
google says its shin splints so my question is, how do i stop the pain?
Mix up running days with non impact cardio.
For example
Run Monday
Bike Wednesday
Run Friday
Or just whatever works. If you are a real fatty then maybe just do fast walks and lots of elliptical and bike.

watch some olympic guys and make sure your form is at least decent (should have high cadence, land mid/forefoot under center of gravity, try to have light footfalls, etc)
if your form is good, you probably just need to slow down and run sparingly until your legs strengthen up which could take a few months

Make sure your form is good (ask in /run/ and use google), invest in better shoes, maybe foam roll your calves regularly. Also don't push your legs too hard, remember you're primarily training your heart and lungs, not your leg muscles.
These are all preventative measures though, afaik the only cure for shin splints is time.
